The Coconino County Public Health Services District has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for Blue Ridge residents.

The advisory follows the Tinder Fire, which continues to produce a large amount of smoke and is expected to move towards Winslow. The smoke can create an unhealthy impact on residents. Moreover, the hot and dry conditions can hinder smoke dispersion.

Authorities say that the worst time for smoke impact will be during the evening.

Exposure to smoke can lead to an itchy throat, cough, irritated sinuses, headaches, runny nose, and stinging eyes. It can also result in asthma, emphysema, and congestive heart disease in worse cases. In line with this, authorities advise the residents to take precautionary measures and to avoid health issues.

It is advisable to temporarily relocate in case you experience the above symptoms. Stay indoors and keep your doors and windows closed as much as possible. It is also recommended that you run an air filtration unit.

If you think your symptoms are worsening, contact your local health provider immediately.
