Credit Union West, an award-winning financial cooperative, has awarded $5,000 to five graduating high school seniors, as part of its 2018 scholarship program.

The scholarship awardees, who will receive $1,000 each, are Abigail Chartier of Prescott High School; Chelsea Clark of Mingus Union High School; Donovan Pichon of Thunderbird High School; Luke Caporrimo of Verrado High School; and Tyler Tuckness of Our Lady of Sorrows Academy.

The recipients met requirements including the submission of a personal essay about the role personal finance plays in career achievement.

“We had many impressive applicants, so it was difficult to select the final winners. With so many bright minds in our community, our economic future will certainly be in good hands,” Credit Union West CEO Bob MacGregor said.

MacGregor added that through the scholarship program, they “are privileged to be able to support their future educational and career goals.”

This is Credit Union West’s fifth year of providing scholarships to Maricopa County and Yavapai County students. They added two scholarships this year for students who participated in their high school’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program.
