About 38.7 percent of the 305 degrees and certificates handed out by the Western Dakota Technical Institute in 2016-17 were to students in Health Professions and Related Programs programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in City conferred 65 certificates and 53 associate's degrees in Health Professions and Related Programs programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training. Data shows the school gave out 47 certificates in Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training, followed by 29 associate's degrees in Precision Metal Working, Other and 23 associate's degrees in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Technologies, Other.

The institute enrolled 1,006 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
